Articles from the Silver Shemmings Ash Team on contractual matters, recent case law changes and items of interest in the construction and property world

Well, it is obvious from the title that this blog post will be very different from the first two posts written by my colleagues. I did not want to start my first post by going into legal jargon and updates as we all know they can sometimes be dry. So, here is a bit of a change!
It has been few years since I finished my law degree and got into the legal market. It has been a roller coaster of all sorts of emotions, skills, acknowledgments of all kinds and has been ‘character building’ (as stated by a commercial barrister) However, change was around the corner when I was approached by one of the Partners at Silver Shemmings Ash to work in the Construction Team
I can honestly say that since my employment at the firm, no two days have never been the same, – everyday is a learning curve without a dull moment and full of challenges of all sorts! Within the Construction Team, I get to carry out various legal work, experience different aspects of construction law whether it be attending client or settlement meetings, dealing with litigation proceedings, even visiting construction sites wearing a hard hat with men’s safety boots size 8 (yes, that is true!!). Not only do I get to be involved in the legal aspects of construction law, but I also take part in other elements of the business such as marketing and building my connections
At Silver Shemmings Ash, everyone takes the time and goes above and beyond to teach you the ins and out of the business, to assist and support you, something that I hardly experienced in the past. The culture at this firm is one of its unique qualities and if you believe you have the guts to put on men’s size 8 boots whilst walking about town in 10-inch heels and if you believe you are up for both business and legal challenges, this is the place for you!
