Prior to becoming a solicitor, he worked client-side for rail and infrastructure company Cracknore Kilbride Group
Laughlan advises an array of clients, including employers, architects, contractors and sub-contractors. He particularly enjoys providing assistance to clients in scenarios of power imbalance
Laughlan is experienced in the preparation, review and negotiation of contract amendments and ancillary documents, including consultants’ appointments and collateral warranties. His non-contentious construction experience includes advising on:
• Several national homebuilders’ projects including essential housing
• Student accommodation
• High value domestic renovations
• Renewable energy site acquisition and development
Laughlan regularly advises on disputes relating to defects, delays and final account valuations in both adjudications and litigation (including enforcement proceedings). He has also acted in a number of successful mediations. Laughlan has advised on disputes in respect of the following:
• Renovations of the Dorchester and Royal Garden Hotels
• Sanitary facilities and baggage handling system at Gatwick Airport
• Steel package at The Scalpel (52 Lime Street)
• Renovation of a Surrey golf club
• Construction of a food processing plant in central London
• Combined Heat and Power Plant at a leading university
